After paralyzing two children in Ukraine, the poliovirus spread by the oral polio vaccine has brought polio back to Mali.
CBS News cited the World Health Organization (WHO) informing that the 19-month-old toddler from Guinea contracted vaccine-derived polio in Mali.
According to Popular Science, both Mali and Guinea are initiating an emergency response to this case as it has the potential to spread.
Though the polio vaccine is known to have caused polio worldwide, it is still administered to millions of children in the less and underdeveloped countries while in the developed west it has been stopped due to its health risks including paralytic polio.
