After the viral craze of ice bucket on social media to raise money for ALS research, now the news of “ice bucket fraud” is making rounds on social media and blogs.
FixYourGut and other blogs started pointing to the ALS Foundation’s annual report for 2012, which shows that close to 70% of the 65 million dollars of the foundation’s revenue was spent on “other program activities” instead of ALS research or creating awareness against the disease.
Blogs and many social media users have started calling the ice bucket challenge a fraud or scam and bewaring people not to donate money to the foundation that hasn’t specifically listed what activities bulk of the donations are being spent on.
