With changing seasons, fruit and veggie produce take turns on farms and grocery shelves. What are some of the possibly safest and least safe fruits and vegetables for your health?
Industrial agriculture is known to pollute crops and vegetation with chemicals like chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. Eating such products frequently or regularly comes with a range of health risks, but the degree varies with the kind of the item and method of growth.
Organic produce, for example, is considered fairly safe with no to few chemicals used in its growth while “natural” is generally considered safer than artificial. Natural however doesn’t mean organic, and this is something consumers need to remember when shopping.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has issued its 2015 Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce™ to help you decide what to buy while minimizing health risks associated with more chemically polluted fruits and vegetables. The list below is a glimpse of these food items. For more details, visit EWG website.
