ABC’s story on the problem says horse owners in Australia report the death of a number of horses vaccinated with the Hendra virus vaccine multiple times. The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has confirmed the link to the vaccine, calling it a reaction to the vaccine.

Concerns over the Hendra virus vaccine’s safety started rising earlier this year when the death of at least 7 horses was linked to the vaccine. ABC, reporting the problem, writes that death is one of the side effects of the vaccine.
