One important movie that came out in the final quarter of 2022, The Good Nurse is based on the true of a hospital nurse who brings herself to spy on a fellow nurse, a suspect in the deaths of dozens of patients at different hospitals.
The Good Nurse is set in early 2000s when compassionate night-shift nurse Amy Loughren makes friends with new arrival Charles Cullen, an experienced nurse as they work together nightly shifts to care for patients in a New Jersey hospital. When the sudden death of a patient at the hospital leads to a police investigation, Cullen becomes a suspect and the police has to recruit help from Loughren to find evidence that could lead to Cullen’s apprehension and prosecution.
Jessica Chastain as Amy Loughren and Eddie Redmayne as Charles Cullen have delivered believable performances in the movie. With screenplay by Krysty Wilson-Cairns and directed by Tobias Lindholm, The Good Nurse is entertaining and thought-provoking drama but also an engaging thriller. Based on a true story of a real-life serial killer, the movie shows the institutional corruption at the medical facilities where patient safety and life come second to reputation and business.
