After the victory of the Republicans in the recent elections in US, questions are again arising about the very controversial Affordable Care Act (ACA), popularly termed “Obamacare”.
Aside the political horn-locking over the issue, quite a few reports say that ACA is causing considerable damage to healthcare of more vulnerable people residing in rural areas. A USA Today story details how the ACA is one of the factors leading to critical condition of rural areas’ hospitals.
“Hospital officials contend that the law’s penalties for having to re-admit patients soon after they’re released are impossible to avoid and create a crushing burden,” the story writes about the impact of ACA on the condition of hospitals in rural areas.
Meanwhile, activism against the ACA continues and FreedomWorks have started a page with a letter addressed to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker of the House John Boehner asking them to repeal ACA on Day One. The page shows that nearly 3000 people have sent the letter via the page so far.
