The killing plan of a Colorado university has led to concerns for the safety of a prairie dog colony.
Ironically, the Naropa University of Boulder, CO, is said to be inspired by Buddhist teachings that greatly value life in all forms and teach against harming life. But it’s the same university that has plans for killing about 100 prairie dogs from their campus. This includes prairie dogs and their babies.
Obviously the university is going opposite to what Buddhism teaches. Over 90 thousand signatures on this Care2 petition ask the university to give up its plan of lethally removing the prairie dogs and instead work with a conservation group that is ready to relocate the colony safely off the campus.
