Immigration Judge A. Ashley Tabaddor has filed a suit against the US Department of Justice (DOJ) over barring her from hearing immigration cases involving Iranian nationals.
The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) today sent out the news of Tabaddor’s lawsuit against DOJ in an email update to subscribers. The message informs that Tabaddor’s lawsuit claims that the DOJ order violates her First Amendment rights of free speech and association as well as racially discriminates against her under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The news was also posted on Cooley LLP website with the information that Tabaddor filed the case at the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Central to the case is the position that DOJ has taken a discriminatory step against Tabaddor based on her ethnic/racial background and her association with Iranian-American community in the United States.
