Greed for profit comes in direct conflict with life in the oil-gas-mineral industry as its practices transgress the wilderness and destroy wildlife. What a Canadian company wants to do in Alaska is a case in recent news.
Care2 is hosting a petition by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) demanding the protection of the untamed wilderness of Bristol Bay, Alaska, against a planned open-pit mine by a Canadian mining company, the Northern Dynasty Minerals.
The petition calls the mining project “the worst corporate assault on America’s natural heritage that no one’s ever heard of.”
The petition has reached nearly 24 thousand signatures in its support and needs 6,000 more signatures to achieve its target.
