Quiz 39 – Did This Actor Fit Well in His Role?

What’s a good way to start the new year? You may agree or not perhaps, but a movie quiz is rumored to make a good start for a new year. So let’s take the next one here with a little change in our MO (read on).

We’ll get to Quiz 39 but first talk about those eyes – yeah those starry eyes of a shining star that was atop the sky of Hollywood for decades.

Bruce Gillikin on USA.life got it right. He wrote “Liz” to answer the quiz – and that’s correct. The beloved Liz Taylor’s eyes are unmistakable whether it’s a die-hard fan, which Bruce sounds to be, or any movie lover familiar with the golden era of Hollywood.

The still was from the movie Boom (1968) written by Tennessee Williams and directed by Joseph Losey. Opposite Liz in the movie is her real-life husband (twice) Richard Burton. A good drama with a scenic setting and well-developed dramatic tension.

Quiz 39

Alright! So new year calls for new gear. Yes, we’ll switch gears here on the kind of quiz we post henceforth. Let’s still call it a quiz but it’s more like an open question with no single correct answer. I want your opinion in answer to a particular question.

Don’t worry about the stills. They aren’t going anywhere. And here’s the one for Quiz 39.

Quiz 39

Now I’m not asking whether you know the actor or the movie name or such pre-2025 questions. Instead I’ll share those right here (in case you haven’t got it from the still already). It’s from the movie Catch 22 (1970), an adaptation of Joseph Heller’s classic novel. You can see a young Jon Voight who plays Lt. Milo Minderbinder. The question you are asked here is: do you think Voight fit the role?

Of course you’ll need to be familiar with the novel to assess whether Voight fit the original character in the book. And if you haven’t read the book or seen the movie, it’s a great way to start 2025. So what are you waiting for?
