Blood-thirsty governments are putting the beauty of nature in their cross-hairs, literally, once again as governments in the United States and Australia are out to kill wild horses in their respective blood-stained schemes.
Voices for animal rights and particularly horses protection in America have made news in major media sources after an investigation revealed that the Trump administration has been selling wild horses to ship them abroad for slaughter. Equus magazine summarized the story of this sale-for-slaughter scheme carried out by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the federal agency that has previously been embroiled of similar scandals in previous administrations.
Clare Staples, founder and president of Skydog Sanctuary that led this investigation, was cited in the story:
“The report published today confirms what we have documented on the ground for more than a year: The BLM’s Sale Authority program is sending America’s federally protected wild horses and burros into the slaughter pipeline.”
Then on the other pole of the world, Australia has reportedly gone open season on horses in the wild and the animals once valued for their role in transportation of people and goods are now being shot dead. Doctor and artist iyah may posted on her X page about the brutality of the Australian authorities in their massacre of wild horses.
The New South Wales Government is going to shoot Australian wild brumby horses starting tomorrow 6am Monday 24th August through Friday 28th, in Yuraygir National Park. They will be mass shooting the animals from helicopters. These horses do not always die immediately, and… pic.twitter.com/64HNYboAlz
