Vitamin D Supplements No Shield against Diseases

Vitamin supplements are big business, but do they really help? At least one kind of vitamin supplements – those of pillsVitamin D – have been found by researchers not so helpful in preventing diseases they were previously thought to prevent.

CBS News reports that Dr. Mark Bolland, a researcher at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, led the study and found that Vitamin D supplements didn’t safeguard against diseases like cancer, heart disease, and even bone problems like fractures. In other words, the study questions the justification of prescribing these supplements to adults.

At the same time, Karl Michaelsson, a professor at the Uppsala University in Sweden, has warned against the harm caused by Vitamin D supplements, informs the popular health website WebMed.
