Science labs or torture chambers? The grave importance of this question cannot be downplayed anymore as labs continue to put dogs to life-threatening, torturous experiments under the excuse of finding a cure for diseases like cardiovascular/heart disease.
Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a nonprofit that sponsored the billboard on I-75 in Detroit, MI, protesting the use of dogs by Wayne State University in their medical experiments. The organization points to the “flawed” nature of these experiments that use dogs captured specifically for using in labs with no care for their sufferings caused by the lab tests.
“And the dogs suffer multiple surgeries and months of painful experiments and forced exercise,” says Kenneth Litwak as quoted in the post Huge Billboard Confronts Wayne State Over Dog Experiments on PCRM website.
Statistics by PETA tell that as many as 75,000 dogs are subjected to suffering in lab experiments in the US every year.
