World Celebrates Naked Gardening Day

Did you know that today is World Naked Gardening Day? Yes, it is what it sounds – being out in a garden and baring it all.

Celebrated on first Saturday in May, the World Naked Gardening Day encourages all to go out in one’s birth suit in a garden and prune the vegetation. Sow, reap, trim, whatever you want or need to do without caring what you look like to those around you. No shame in being with the plants with no eyes and tongues.

The founder Mark Storey, who started it all around 2003, actually gave out a call for poll on what people thought was most enjoyable activity without clothes—excluding of course the one which is known to all. And one of the top responses was gardening.

The natural connection is pretty obvious—you revert to a state of nativity in a way and promote growth of life by working in the garden—the source of food and oxygen. But probably the best thing about the day is that no organization has a claim to own or organize this occasion. It’s all left to people—your body, your work, your pride.
