When you are faced with writing an essay, you can feel all kinds of things. You may get writer’s block as soon as you’re faced with the computer screen. You may feel confused and frustrated about what it is you should be writing. It’s true that being faced with writing a daunting essay can be really stressful. Remember that you’re not the only one to feel like this! However, if you use the tips in this guide, you should be able to write your essay with no problems at all. You can banish that writer’s block and frustration for good! Here are the essay writing tips and tricks that anybody can use:

Understand the Question and Answer around That

Most essays are centered on one important question that the examining body wants the essay writer to answer. Make sure you understand the question, and if you don’t understand it fully, ask questions so that you do. After all, answering this question is of the utmost importance. If you don’t answer it properly, then your entire essay writing effort will be pointless. All the way through your essay you need to make sure you’re answering the question and not talking about anything irrelevant. Whenever you read back on something, ask yourself whether it answers the question at hand. This is crucial if you want your essay to be a success.

Create a Good Introductionessay-writing

A good introduction will be many things. It’ll be fairly short and concise to begin with. You don’t want to start your essay using all kinds of big words and long sentences. In some cases, doing so can seem pompous. Your introduction should also outline the main points you plan on covering in the essay. You then go into those points in further detail later on. Once you’ve crafted a good introduction, you’ll be well on your way to writing a great essay!

Brainstorm a Plan

Before you start writing, it might help you to brainstorm an essay plan. What points are you going to cover? What order will you cover them in? Trying to get everything out of your head and down on paper might just help you to create something great. You can look back on your plan when you need direction and guidance.

Write More Rather than Less

It’s usually a good idea to write more rather than less, as you can fit more of your points into a longer essay and make sure you’ve covered them sufficiently. Don’t go for a minimalistic approach if you’re just being lazy. That being said, you should always write the recommended number of words. You shouldn’t write more for the sake of it. You should cover your points in everything you write. An examiner will mark a shorter to the point essay much better than a longer essay.

Make Sure What You’re Writing is Relevant

As we’ve mentioned before, everything you’re writing must be relevant. This means writing, then going back and reading what you have just written. This can seem tiresome, but it must be done to ensure that you’re not babbling and that the things you’re writing have a point to them. Don’t stop if you’re on a roll, but be sure to go back regularly to re-read what you’ve written. You’ll be in such a pickle if you wait until the end of the essay to read back, only to discover you’ve gone off on a tangent and failed to answer the question.

Try to Include Something New in Your Conclusion

When you write your conclusion, try to write something new. Maybe try to include a new angle or something unique. This will work better than writing something that everybody else has written. With that being said, you should always just write what you know if you’re confused.

Make Sure Your Paragraphs Link Together

Each paragraph you write should link well from the last paragraph. This is why writing and then reading back is so important. You should do this each time you finish a paragraph so you know how to move on to the next paragraph as smoothly as possible. You don’t want your writing to appear to be all over the place. This is especially important if you have a time limit to stick to.

Use Good Essay Editing Programs

Editing your essay once it’s finished is important too. This is how you make sure everything ties in smoothly, you’ve covered all of your points, it makes sense and read well. Editing essays alone can be tough, which is why there are programs available to help you if you need them. You can never be too careful or precise when polishing your essay and making sure it’s as good as it can be. If you’re under exam conditions, you won’t be able to edit your essay like this. Again, this is why continuously stopping to read what you have written is a must.

Read Other Essays and Learn from Them

If you’re at a loss when it comes to essay writing, make sure you read other essays and learn from them. You can find many essay examples in books and online. You should never copy them, but there will be all kinds of lessons you can take away from them if you look hard enough. Think about what you like about them, what you don’t like about them, and anything else that will help you to write in the future. You can develop great writing skills this way.

Expand Your Vocabulary

There’s nothing wrong with expanding your vocabulary, especially if you find yourself using the same word over and over. You should avoid using big words for the sake of using big words, as this doesn’t look great. However, expanding your vocabulary to vary your writing is usually a great idea. You can get words sent to your inbox each day. You can even write your essay with a thesaurus next to you.

Hopefully these tips have been a big help to you. Good luck!
