Congress Voting on Important Bill Affecting Animal Safety and Abuse

Congress Voting on Important Bill Affecting Animal Safety and Abuse

by Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine

Congress is about to vote on the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, which would revise the decades-old Toxic Substances Control Act. Please make a call or send an e-mail today and urge your House representative to vote FOR this bill.lab-testing

Thanks to your advocacy, the Lautenberg Act will reduce and replace animals in chemical tests by requiring the Environmental Protection Agency and the chemical industry to consider and use non-animal testing methods and strategies. It also places restrictions on animal testing—which are stronger than current law—that will ensure the development and adoption of modern non-animal methods.

Over time, the provisions in this bill will save hundreds of thousands of animals by replacing animal tests with human-relevant alternatives.

Please call or e-mail your representative today, and tell him or her to vote FOR the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act because it modernizes testing methods and restricts animal testing.

After contacting your representative, please forward this message to your friends.

Thank you for your help and compassion.
